December, 2009 message from the organizer
Through our project we aim for introducing regular, longer massage treatments in care homes as we believe this would have a positive impact into the elderly’ health and their life on all its aspects; plus let’s just say there are endless possibilities in which our mission can turn in.
This year though we want to get across our message through all UK and stick with the same schedule of short treatments in order to keep a balance with the care homes’ program; also the aim is for the general public to open their minds and hearts to our intention and make it known that geriatric massage is gaining acceptance in the medical community as being a great improver for elderly’ well being.
Obviously, having regular longer treatments is much better than having one day treatment a year but this is only the beginning. This is the start and we need like-minded people and therapists who would like to join us and participate in the event. On the other hand it is not about the length of treatment as it is about the emotions going along with touch, along with treatment; as “many scientific studies show that mind and emotions can influence immunity.”1 This is what we ultimately aim for.
We might still get skepticism but it’s our belief that by offering this treatment on a regular basis we will not only improve our senior’s life, it will also have a positive impact on the carers, nurses, healthcare assistants and all the staff involved in taking care of them.
That’s because massage therapy has an impact not only on their bodies, experiencing health improvement, but on their moods and behavior. And then here we go we have a domino effect in which it needs only one piece to move and the rest of it will follow. It is only one step to say that such a program when well developed it can impact positively on our entire society.
By giving them our attention, time to listen and specially our respectful touch through treatments we can mark an amazing bond and the rewards are amazing.
There are feelings of great joy I personally experience and this is one way I understand the “enormous force filed”2 which connects all people through intentions, thoughts and actions between each one of us.
We separated our elderly and many of them experience disease, pain, lack of movement, loneliness. Let’s come together and offer them a choice of experiencing joyfulness, laughter, calmness, peacefulness, forgiveness, love thorough gestures we may think appropriate. This time let’s start all these change through alternative treatments which involves human touch interaction.
We take part in a breakthrough in alternative medicine. New amazing discoveries are made all the time with the help of science; more and more people become aware of their wonderful powers of healing themselves, aware of possibilities and choices to fulfil their lives. Let’s include our elderly as well as by doing so we will speed up healing the world and consequently healing ourselves as we are all one.
I look forward to 10 December 2009!
